Join artist Jane Cheek for an Artist Talk and wine tasting to kick off the Fourth Friday festivities on Friday, August 25 at 6 p.m. Cheek’s solo installation, Where Joy Blooms, is on view at 210 Princess Street in downtown Wilmington.

In Where Joy Blooms, Cheek takes viewers through the process of capturing, cultivating, and recognizing joyful moments as a means of navigating the ebbs and flows of life. Oversized and abstracted flowers take center stage, highlighting the profound impact of tending to our personal wells of joy.

During the Artist Talk and wine tasting, visitors will hear from Cheek about her personal journey finding joy through art-making and taste six wines from Manna Provisions. that are great for this time of year. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the wine tasting begins at 6:30 with the artist talk immediately after. The gallery will be open until 9 p.m.

The installation is available through August 26. Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday, 4 to 7 p.m. and Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. unless otherwise specified.

Where Joy Blooms is a partnership between The Durham Art Guild and the curatorial team Michael S. Williams & Holly Tripman Fitzgerald.
